Safety labels communicate hazard and handling information directly on equipment, containers, and machinery. Where a sign communicates to people approaching an area, a safety label communicates at the point of contact — on the chemical container, on the machine guard, on the pipe or valve. Both are required as part of a complete workplace safety system.
Industro supplies safety labels to manufacturers, chemical distributors, engineering businesses, and facility managers across Australia. Our range includes standard stock labels for common applications and custom label production for specific equipment or substance identification.
Safety label applications
- Chemical and substance identification labels (GHS compliant)
- Pipe and valve identification labels
- Machine guarding and pinch point labels
- Electrical panel and switchboard warning labels
- First aid and emergency information labels
- Equipment inspection and maintenance record labels
- Asset identification and barcode labels
GHS and WHS labelling requirements
Chemical containers used in Australian workplaces must be labelled in accordance with the Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals as adopted under the WHS Regulations. GHS labelling includes hazard pictograms, signal words, hazard statements, and precautionary statements appropriate to the chemical's classification.
Machinery and equipment labels must meet AS/NZS 1319 requirements where they communicate safety information, and must remain legible for the life of the equipment.
Why buy from Industro
Our safety labels are produced on materials selected for the environment they will be used in — chemical-resistant substrates for container labelling, UV-stable materials for outdoor equipment, and high-tack adhesives for surfaces exposed to vibration or temperature cycling. Custom labels are produced to your specifications with fast turnaround. Stock items ship same day from our Australian warehouse.
What is the difference between a safety label and a safety sign?
A safety sign is a stand-alone display mounted in or near a hazardous area. A safety label is applied directly to a piece of equipment, container, or surface to communicate hazard or handling information at the point of contact. Both are required under AS/NZS 1319 and related WHS regulations, but they serve different functions in your overall safety communication system.
Can Industro produce GHS-compliant chemical labels?
Yes. We produce GHS-compliant chemical labels to your safety data sheet specifications. Provide your SDS and label requirements and we will produce labels in the correct format, size, and material for your containers and storage conditions.
