Fire extinguisher signs identify the location of portable fire fighting equipment in the workplace. Under AS/NZS 1319 and AS 2444 (portable fire extinguishers — selection and location), fire extinguishers must be clearly marked with a sign that is visible from a distance and from multiple directions of approach. In an emergency, firefighters and workers must be able to locate extinguishers instantly.
Industro supplies fire extinguisher signs to workplaces of every type across Australia, from small offices and retail stores to large warehouses, manufacturing plants, and construction sites. Every sign in our range is compliant with the relevant Australian Standards and is designed for immediate recognition.
Types of fire extinguisher signs
Our range includes overhead identification signs (hung above the extinguisher location), wall-mounted signs at eye level, and hose reel signs. Signs are available in standard red and white AS/NZS 1319 format, with photoluminescent (glow-in-the-dark) options for low-light environments and facilities without backup lighting.
Australian Standard requirements
AS 2444 requires fire extinguishers to be located in visible, accessible positions and marked with appropriate identification signs. Signs should be positioned so they are visible at a minimum of 15 metres under normal working conditions. Your fire safety consultant or WHS officer can advise on specific placement requirements for your site.
